EDUCATION HOD'S MEET IN EAST LONDON TODAY

Education Department heads from South Africa's nine provinces begin a three-day meeting here today to discuss issues such as curriculum,
further education and training, and the monitoring and evaluation of schools.

The heads of departments (HODs) would also look at issues of HIV-Aids and leave-taking.

It is the first time the monthly HODs meeting will take place in the Eastern Cape since the decision to rotate the location of gatherings.

The Acting Education Superintendent-General Phillip Qokweni will deliver a report on the challenges and successes experienced in the
province.

Visits will also be undertaken to schools of varying conditions including some near Butterworth in the Tsomo and Nqamakwe areas.

The meeting and workshop will enable HODs to share strategic information but also the opportunity to move away from the theoretical.
